stress produces art

This was the ink sketch I did in my sketchbook a couple of weeks back...Chris has been bugging me it looks very Manga...but I saw a fairy in her...her back just looked like she needed wings

So I glued a piece of scrapbook paper to a 4X6 art board and started painting- I gave her clip art butterfly wings...and managed to finish her all in one night, because I started her the night that we had to decide to make an offer on the property or not. I was so stressed out and angry about being forced into a quick decision that I was up all night anyways...so I just kept painting and re- tinting and changing her hair color. I swear she must have 50 layers of paint!
Oh well, I like her.
I've decided I need to work much smaller I've been overwhelming myself with 16 X20 canvases or bigger...and they never seem to get finished, because the background always seems to trip me up an then they sit and sit and sit waiting for me to decide.- So I'm turning over a new leaf and allowing myself to do "other" things for backgrounds and work smaller...I'm actually pretty proud that at least I can say I finished 1

sketchbook again

I started this sketchbook when I was out in Caroline with the in-laws (trying to be "creative" without making any mess)
theses are the first few sketches and when I realized my drawing skills were pretty rusty...so I made a promise to myself to fill the 100 page sketchbook.
Although it's moving a lot slower than I had hoped I've done 38 pages. I'm pretty excited about the fashion era pen and ink or colored pencil I'm doing right now...I haven't got pics of them yet, and I thought I should show you where I'm "starting" or "starting again" from I guess...
so here's the first few in the book

made a promise

I've had a lot of reference to the One World One Heart event in the last little while I realize that. But I've also "met" or at least exchanges e-mails with a few very inspiring ladies. Their words were warm and encouraging, and I even opened up and expressed some of my fears about posting any of my own work on my blog...
but I made a promise to one of these amazing gals that I would get something up, and although it's not a lot I thought I'd post a few pics out of my sketch book, just to get my toes wet...

I'll be so glad when this move all comes together...

I've been so busy lately- and yet feel like I'm never quite moving ahead...

I had to paint the downstairs bathroom completely after the drywall went back up on the ceiling...between the 2 coats of primer and the 2 coats of paint all over...it was more than a four day job....and now I have to go back down and scrape paint from the tiles and any drips...

with the left over paint I started the ceiling of the bathroom upstairs.... I think it needed it!!!

I've also managed to drop off at least 10 bags of "STUFF" at value village...having Chris home for the weekend made the trips easier...nothing like have the brawn to lift all that stuff upstairs and out of the car...I managed to not just get rid of clothes, but the extra cot, 2 DVD players, that huge jar of peppers...everything...Funny how I get brutal about things when I start to look at packing them...

I even convinced myself to get rid of some of my clay pieces from high school...although I decided to photograph them first, before I could let go for good...But it feels good to let go of some things

Cup and Saucer- from high school art class

Otter, with Marble, from ACA art class, during high school, or Jr. high I don't quite remember?
