The Bathroom

It was an awful lot of work- and I'm so sick of the bathroom, I feel like I've been living in it. But when you see how nice it looks in pics...I guess all the painting and re-whitening the grout, and more painting, and washing every bottle and jar and cabinets...and stripping everything out and reorganizing was worth it!!!

and for things not about hair...

I dropped the Nater of with Grandpa Zoom last night- that was a lot of driving, but I guess worth it for a few free days (thus why I was able to focus on my hair so much)





Then this afternoon I touched up all the brown paint in the bathroom...the tape I masked off the ceiling with didn't keep out all of the white paint so there was basically jagged white lines on my brown paint- that plus spatter it was looking pretty rough. So it was another afternoon of balancing on the bathtub with a paint can in hand.


this pic isn't great for the color but I think the lines of the ceiling vs. the wall look much better.

I'm also really impressed with this tile grout re-whitener...this is 2 coats in the shower, and some lines ma end up needing 3 just to make sure they are as white as the rest...but I still think it came out really well...

from here, I have to do a massive clean, including all the cupboards and all the bathroom "products" need to be wiped down and washed...then its just rehanging all the shower curtain stuff and putting in my new towels...I think it should look pretty good!!!

Also I won't say to much about my bleach adventure tonight...other than small flies obviously hatched in the dog pen...and I went out there and laid down 2 whole bottles of liquid death...not that the pen didn't need cleaning anyways...but I also decided with the dogs shedding and being dirty there was no way they were coming into the house and their kennel tonight. So I had quite the little adventure (and a few words I was glad Nater wasn't here to hear) getting the stupid, heavy cage up the stairs, collapsed and out to the garage for the night.

Now I'm contemplating going to bed and getting an early start tomorrow or trying to get out bedroom or the living room finished...both should be relatively simple jobs, but I'm so tired after getting home so late last night, that I'm really not sure I'll be effective tonight anyways...

hmmmm I think I'll find a snack and decide after that.

Stupid Yard-

To be more specific- it's actually a stupid fence...I knew that the fence especially behind the raspberry bushes probably needed a coat of paint this year, but it wasn't until I went out there and started with a wire brush and then the paint that I realized just how bad it was...

I'll be so glad when this move all comes together...

I've been so busy lately- and yet feel like I'm never quite moving ahead...

I had to paint the downstairs bathroom completely after the drywall went back up on the ceiling...between the 2 coats of primer and the 2 coats of paint all over...it was more than a four day job....and now I have to go back down and scrape paint from the tiles and any drips...


with the left over paint I started the ceiling of the bathroom upstairs.... I think it needed it!!!

I've also managed to drop off at least 10 bags of "STUFF" at value village...having Chris home for the weekend made the trips easier...nothing like have the brawn to lift all that stuff upstairs and out of the car...I managed to not just get rid of clothes, but the extra cot, 2 DVD players, that huge jar of peppers...everything...Funny how I get brutal about things when I start to look at packing them...





I even convinced myself to get rid of some of my clay pieces from high school...although I decided to photograph them first, before I could let go for good...But it feels good to let go of some things

The Drain is fixed for a lot less that 700 dollars.

I had a second Plumber come out today and look at our leaking Tub.

He actually took the drain apart- unlike my other plumber who just wrote me a 700 dollar quote to rip out all the pipes.

Anyways my plumber today, pulled out the drain, found that there was NO SEAL- most likely whoever re glazed the Tub before we moved in, never replaced the seal!

But regardless...

He replaced the seal, and put silicone around the drain...and charges me 75 DOLLARS

What's that like 10 % of what the other plumber wanted???

And He'll be back next week to fix the ceiling...something I would have had to call someone else for with the other company...oh and I'd be patching 2 holes with them since they wanted to put a hole in the closet as well!

I've been thrilled all day that the problems fixed for way less than I was worried it would be...but I couldn't let it go either...part of the reason I originally picked the first company out of the phone book was because they had the BBB (Better Business Bureau) logo.

So I filed a complaint with the BBB online tonight...

although I don't expect much, I did say an appropriate response would be to refund the "dispatch and Travel" fee of 49.95- well wait and see what their response is...but considering my second plumber said their was nothing wrong with any of the pipes and the whole issue was the seal... I used words like "fraudulent up selling" in my complaint!

At the very least it will Scar their reputation-

and hey who knows maybe I'll get my money back for them wasting my time!
