Moth Dust and moth "gross"ness

I've had a couple of discussions lately about moths.

Chris thinks that its stupid to be scared of Moths but like Butterflies. My response to this is that Moths are gross because they run into you and get "Moth Dust" on you.

(which is actually SCALES of their wings coming off, and butterflies have it too. But Butterflies don't crash into me repeatedly)

I mentioned this conversation to my Dad who accused me of making up "Moth Dust" until he looked online and all the articles refering to "moth Dust"

Chris' argugment is still that I wouldn't be afraid of Moths if they were pretty like butterflies...and to tell you the truth...I found this photo on Flickr tonight, and honestly if all moths looked like this I'd at least be curious about them...

This guy is apparently called a Rosy Maple moth, which according to wikipedia actually exists (I was thinking it must have been photoshopped. but...

The rosy maple moth (Dryocampa rubicunda ) is a North American moth in the Saturniidae family. Males have a wingspan of 32-44 mm; females of 40-50 mm. They have reddish-to-pink legs and antennae, yellow bodies and hindwings, and pink forewings with a triangular yellow band across the middle. Males have bushier antennae than females. As the name implies, rosy maple moths mainly feed on Maples, particularly Red Maple, Silver Maple, and Sugar Maple. Sometimes these moths become pests on maple trees.

I've created a small monster

For obvious reasons I've spent a lot of time cleaning in the last few weeks...and Nathan has picked up on this. The other morning I spent his breakfast wiping down the kitchen counters, as soon as he was let down from the highchair he grabbed a sponge and started wiping the window and the table, it was pretty cute...
but tonight was a whole new phenomenon.
At a showing last week some idiot broke the child lock on the cabinet under the sink, its caused other issues like a monkey being able to hit the garborator switch...but... tonight I was washing something in the sink and Nathan zip past me pulled open the side with the broken lock and reached across to flip open the garbage lid on the other door and slipped something in.
I was quite proud of him to know where garbage goes...
but then I realized the whole house shouldn't have any garbage we'd had a showing only a few hours ago...
curious to see what he was throwing out I opened the garbage...
he'd thrown out a seasoning package...the problem is he'd pulled it out of the spice cupboard himself, and then after he'd crumpled it he decided it was garbage and threw it out unused.
I looked through the rest of the garbage thinking it shouldn't be as full as it was, since I emptied the bag just this morning...apparently he's been doing this all day...

Jilted bride gets national TV attention

Jilted bride gets national TV attention
This story seems to be getting a lot of attention right now, I watched it on the news last night, and people were making comments that "it's scary that an engagement can be seen as a legal contract that you can get sued for"
- but I have to totally side with the Bride here. I think she deserved some compensation. She gave up a lucrative career to move to the state of her fiance and took a job paying 50 thousand less a year. Then he dumps her??? It's not like she sued him for an outrageous amount to me that seems like a fair settlement for disrupting her life and not following through on the commitment. I mean she gives up everything to move and go be with him because she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. He changes his mind, and she's making 50 thou a year less and is in another state???
I'd be a little more skeptical if she'd been awarded millions for this...but 150 seems fair for the hardship and the loss of wage.

oops

oops?!?
I was pretty sad about this guy tonight. He's been sitting on the wooden shelf that divides the kitchen from the living room since we moved in. And I've had him for years before that, I bought him because he reminded me of a figurine that my great grandmother had in her kitchen for all the years I can remember...but it turns out Nathan's highchair is slightly to close to the shelves, and when I lifted him up to put him in the chair tonight he lunged for this guy. and the results...
Other than that, Nathan makes me think I'm raising a child that's part monkey sometimes. As I was cooking dinner tonight I watched him put his feet on the bottom of the high chair- chair part and pull himself up into the seat. Then he turned around and sat in the chair like he's suppose to. Apparently he wanted dinner right then and there. When he realized he wasn't getting it, he turned back around and climbed down. I really don't think he should be able to do these sorts of things yet? should he?

awwww too cute...

Time for some parent gushing...
I was so amused with Nathan tonight.
He was dancing (which consists of stomping his feet really fast) and spinning in circles till he got dizzy and fell down.
So I went over and took his hands. The I started singing ring around the rosie, while slowly spinning with him. At husha husha they all fall down, I'd fall on my back and kick my arms and legs in the air. It took two rounds for him to see the game in this...and then that was it! We must have done it 50 times tonight. and everytime I'd fall down he'd giggle and get up, come over and take my hands to get me up to do it again.
I'm so excited he's getting to a stage where he wants to play actual games with me!!!

Pretty sky

I took these right in the driveway last night- I love it whenever you get such soft pink hues in the sky.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

It was kinda sad we didn't get to spend Daddy's Birthday with him, but in honor of his Birthday we went out and got Sundae's at McDonalds- Nathan really enjoyed his!mmmm...sticky!

In the backyard with the "3 Kids"

Kaylee is quite proud of herself for this~ she'll drop the ball on the end of the lounge chair to make sure you see it. Nathan is really trying to learn to play with Kaylee...but he hasn't quite mastered the concept of throw the ball for her NOT AT HER. (notice her half cower?)

Giving the ball to Mags
Everyone has to babysit Nathan
Fetch (quick before someone else gets it)
More babysitting
Just checking

She's looking at me like that because he's actually sitting on her tail.

Haircut

Since we were kicked out of the house for a showing this morning, I thought I'd slide into to BEANERS and see if they had space to cut some one's hair

In the Truck Before the haircut- all nice and sticky from our doughnut breakfast

Waiting for the next appointment in the Ball Pit
Ball Pits are too much fun!!!!
We decided to sit on some weird dog/ chipmunk/bear dude for our haircut

"HEY, They left me on the weird dude by myself"

Snip Snip

They Had to Give Nathan a paintbrush to play with so he'd give them back the comb- he always thinks he should be allowed to comb/brush his hair himself.

Another day of cleaning and hail storms

Not much new and exciting today- we had another Hail Storm roll through about 6 o'clock.
This time I was already outside (about to do my doggy patrol- another joy of showing the house~ I get to do doggy patrol once or twice a day) and could hear the thunder in the distance and the black clouds in the North. So I managed to get the dogs into the garage before I had to run out looking like an idiot trying to duck the hail.
I also spent at least 2 hours on our files looking for the tax assessment. It really sucked. And I couldn't find this years- no matter where I looked it's been misfiled somewhere.
We have a showing first thing tomorrow morning. So after Nater went down, I spent the rest of the evening vacuuming, and tidying the kitchen. I so hope we get an offer soon. and I can stop living in a "SHOW HOME"

What do you get when you cross a Polar Bear and a Seal????

Shopping Day

Nathan and I got kicked out of the house twice today for open houses.

So to kill some time we went to Crappy Tire.

Totem

and Sobeys

I fell in love with a Buddha head sculpture at Crappy Tire... It was reduced from the original 24.99 to 12.50 so it was already 50% off

but I came home without buying it to dig through all the drawers for any Canadian Tire Money that was lying around...That stuff seems to appear everywhere. There was some in my receipt drawer, some in Chris' change tin, some with the kids stuff and some in the garage.

After scraping together this stash I went back and bought it... in "real money" it only ended up costing my $2.91, when all was said and done. I think it's a pretty cool piece especially for less than 3 dollars.

I couldn't decide where to put him, so he's living beside the half dead plant (I really need to find the time to trim it back and water it soon) in the carport- Hopefully he'll find a cool permanent home at the new place.

Poor Kid, doesn't look like he had any fun!?!?!?

How to Reupholster a Chair- Do It Yourself

How to Reupholster a Chair- Do It Yourself
I really wanted to reupholster that couch for the patio last summer- I ended up throwing it out with all of this de-cluttering...because it was half ripped apart and I couldn't figure out how to get the new fabric on. At least if I get the same bright idea once we move I'll have a reference point to start from.

The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards

I'm so excited I just read an article that The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards has been turned into a movie there was a whole article about the Down syndrome girl Krystal who is going to play the role of Phoebe, In the July issue of Reader's Digest (pg. 50)
I loved this book, I lent it to my Mother in Law when I was done, and she read it within a weekend too!
It's one of those stay up all night to finish books... I hope the movie is at least half as good.

Yucky Hail

We had quite the 20 minute hail storm tonight,

we had one on Thursday as well. I put a couple good big pieces in the freezer to prove to Chris when he got home it really had been marble sized hail.

These chunks were just as big and more came down. It went on for at least twenty minutes. The Carport roof, where the fiberglass is was just rattling I was afraid it would break, and there was a river running down the front street and a pond in the driveway. Nathan watched it for awhile at the front window with me. Every time I said "that's hail making a banging banging" he'd "bang, bang on the front window with his hand.
